Certificate II in Security Operations

Course Overview

This is your first step to gaining employment in the security industry.  Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 is the entry-level requirement for licensing of both Unarmed Guards and Crowd Controllers. 

This course is designed to meet the training requirements for licensing as unarmed guards and crowd controllers in Victoria and Queensland.

What employment opportunities will I have?

On successful completion of the course and successful obtainment of your licence you could gain employment as a crowd controller providing crowd control services at venues and major social and sporting events. You could also gain employment as a security officer providing static or mobile guard on a range of client premises.

What skills will I have when I complete this course?

You will gain the skills to help you work in the security industry including: Occupational Health and Safety, First Aid, Communication Skills, Conflict Resolution Skills, Team Work, Interpretation of Legal and Procedural Requirements, and How to Respond to a Security Risk Situation.

What qualifications will I receive?

On successful completion of the course you will be awarded the Certificate II in Security Operations. As part of the Australian Qualifications Framework this program is nationally recognised.

What opportunities for further studies will I have?

You may progress on to do the Certificate III in Security Operations and then the Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management and the Diploma of Security Management.

Can I apply?

There are no prerequisites for this course. You will have to successfully complete the English skills pre-assessment test.
